EUSR Category 2: Implement Safe Excavating Practices

This course designed for experienced operatives with an active knowledge of utility operations and excavating practices who will be required to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and hand held power. Course covers the minimum training and assessment required for those working to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and hand-held power tools.

Our training courses have both practical and theory elements, so all candidates should have good English verbal and writing skills.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and official guidance regarding excavation work 
• Know how to undertake work in compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation
• Know how to extract information, instructions derived from temporary works, RAMS, permits, utility drawings HSG47/GS6, company policy, procedures, work instructions, specifications
• Identify control measures for overhead / underground services, implement safe systems of work 
• Know how to excavate using correct tools equipment in compliance with safe digging practice, and company procedure SSOW and HSG47 
• Identify ground soil types and changeable conditions on the work location 
• Know how to identify, select, segregate, store, remove excavated materials to meet environmental requirements
• Understand the importance of correct, factual communication always in or around deep excavation
• Recognise secure protection requirements, procedures to keep operations safe in excavation 

Revision and additional practice time will be available to all candidates. Our training centre environment reflects an actual construction site and has state of the art welfare and classroom facilities ensuring candidates have a relaxed and enjoyable experience whilst training and testing.
